Burke Shire Economic Development Strategy

Burke Shire Council is pleased to present the Burke Shire Council Economic Development Strategy 2025 - 2030. 

The Burke Shire EDS will provide guidance and planning for the future of Burke Shire’s economic development related activities. It will provide succinct direction and defined goals to work towards, allowing the Burke Shire community to prosper and thrive. Implementing the Burke Shire Economic Development Strategy sets the foundation for a stronger, more diverse local economy. By setting out a road map for the future, the Shire can drive sustainable growth and create long-term opportunities for its community.

Previous Progress

  • The progression of the work for the Burke Shire EDS was formally endorsed by Council on the 25th October 2022.
  • Three open community consultation sessions were held between the 16th - 18th November - one in Gregory and two in Burketown.
  • The Burke Shire Economic Development Strategy was adopted by Council on the 25th June 2025.
