Burke Shire Council rates are issued annually along with a copy of the  Schedule of Rates and Charges.

There are 4 ways to pay your rates.

  1. Over the Phone: Please contact our Customer Service Officer on 07 47455 100 to pay by credit card over the phone. Have your rates notice available for details.
  2. By Mail: Cheque, money order or credit card details can be mailed to Burke Shire Council, PO Box 90, Burketown, QLD 4830 with the slip on the bottom of the rates notice. Cheque and money order should be made payable to Burke Shire Council.
  3. In Person: Payment may be made at the Council Office in Musgrave Street from 9.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday. Method of payment, cash, cheque, money order, EFTPOS.
  4. Direct Deposit: Please phone our Customer Service Officer on 07 47455 100 for BSB and Account details.

Rates must be paid in full by the due date to receive the discounted amount.

Change of Address

Please return the tear off slip (on the bottom of the rates notice) to the Council Office or fax your new details to 07 4745 5181 or email your details to office@burke.qld.gov.au

Change of Ownership

Should you have recently sold your property and have received a rates notice please forward the rates notice to the new owner or return to the Council.

Pensioner Concession Information

Pensioner Concession Holders, upon presentation of their pension card (issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs, or a Queensland "Repatriation Health Card") to the Burke Shire Council office may be eligible to receive a further discount on their rates.

Discounts will only apply to pension card holders who currently reside on their rateable property.  Application for State Government Subsidy on Rates and Charges can be accessed here.
